We
have been in business since 1991 and originally operated under the name
'As New Floorsanding'. For many years I had been using modified products,
such as polyurethane, which contain a significant amount of xylene,
a toxic chemical used in all modified floor finishes. I was not an asthmathic
person and have never had any skin problems since I was a kid. However
in 1999 I found that about 2-4 hours after using the polyurethane I
would start loosing my breath. I also developed rashes. I started seeing
a few different doctors and I was given medication for asthma and cream
for my skin! I decided to research more about the materials that I was
using. I discovered the 'Painters and Decorators Trade Union Handbook'.
The syndrome I I was sufferng from was common and is called 'Painters
Syndrome'. It is apparently irreversible and has left me chemically
sensitive. I was shocked to find out how toxic these chemicals are,
and dismayed that they are still allowed to be used as a raw material
in households. The cronic side effects they cause can effect everyone.
One
day a customer asked me to apply an Ardvos finish to their floor. I
couldn't believe it, I didn't even need to wear a mask and I didn't
lose my breath. From then on I decided to only use natural products.
I decided to make a difference not only to myself but to other people
